I recommend magnetic weapons and Lieutenant rank troops. For achievement purposes, you may want to complete this mission before hacking a codex for the story objective. Whilst not a hard mission, expect to fight armored robotic enemies.
You may wish to wait to initialize it until your units have developed some in rank, squad size and weapons. The mission will wait for you to initiate it later. Unlike normal rumors, DLC related rumors will not disappear with time. To begin the mission you will investigate the rumor and can begin the mission immediately thereafter. There will be a short cutscene involving Lily Shen. However, before long a rumor will appear on the map. When you start the new game with this content enabled you will begin the campaign as you normally would. If you have the ' War of the Chosen' DLC and select integrate downloadable content, you will not have the story missions available and would not be able to get all of the achievements on that run. You would be able to access the new unit type and related technologies and can begin working on some of the achievements. If you purchase the DLC later, the game will ask you if you want to enable the new content. To enable the special mission, you must select it when you start your campaign. A few of the achievements must be earned in the mission, whilst others are earned using a new unit type later in the game.
The mission does require more time than a standard mission, but is not too time consuming. Of all of the DLC’s, Shen’s last gift is the least complicated and does not have any negative effects on the future campaign. This add on provides a special mission, grants access to a new unit type, and enables several new achievements. Shen’s last gift is one of three DLC’s available for XCOM 2.
